Description of Artwork: Women are taught to obey men even when they are being unjust. I, as a woman, am scared of men. I’m terrified of the control they have over me. I have been assaulted many times and I felt so powerless in those moments. The power I didn’t have in those moments made me feel like I was nothing. Absolutely worthless. I made this collage as a way of taking my power back so I would always remember my worth and value. To me, red and gold are powerful colors. Those are the colors of fire. I hope that in the future I will have the fire and passion to fight back against the men who seek to oppress and hurt me.
